Mmm, you took my breath away
I might not get to Heaven
But I walked with the angels that day” Chris Stapleton, “Joy of My Life”
In mid-June, Nick and Kristen exchanged vows in front of an intimate group of about 35 family members and friends, completing a journey that was both heartfelt and joyously unique.
The day began at a generous neighbor’s home in Naperville, where Nick and Kristen chose to do their First Look. The neighbor’s yard, a lush and private setting, was the perfect backdrop for this special moment. As Nick waited eagerly, the anticipation built, and when Kristen finally approached from behind, his face lit up with a smile that could warm the chilliest of days. It was a moment of pure magic, witnessed by their closest family members, capturing the joy and excitement of the day to come. After the First Look, we took some beautiful couples portraits and gathered their families for a few quick shots before heading over to Kristen’s parents’ backyard for the ceremony.
The ceremony itself was a simple yet beautiful affair. Held in Kristen’s parents’ backyard, the setting was intimate, with just their closest circle in attendance. Nick and Kristen exchanged personal vows that were deeply moving, filled with stories from their journey together and declarations of a love that is meant to last forever. “I love you 5ever because it’s more than 4ever,” Nick said with a playful smile, a line that brought both laughter and tears to their guests. The moment was perfect—raw, genuine, and filled with emotion.
After the ceremony, the celebration moved to a family house in Aurora for the reception—an evening full of memorable moments. One of the most touching was their first dance to “Joy of My Life” by Chris Stapleton. As they swayed together, lost in their own world, it was clear that this song was more than just a choice for the first dance—it was a testament to their love and joy in being together. It was an intimate moment amidst a day full of excitement, a beautiful reminder of what the day was truly about.
Halfway through the reception, Nick and Kristen added a fun twist to the evening by changing into matching Chicago Bulls jerseys. This playful outfit change set the tone for the night—a blend of laughter, love, and light-hearted fun. The couple’s spontaneous energy was infectious, and soon everyone was joining in on the fun.
The reception continued with a group sing-along to “Fins” by Jimmy Buffet—a song that had everyone swaying and singing together in joyous harmony. Another highlight was the “Thunderstruck” drinking game, which had everyone on their feet, laughing and cheering along. The yard was filled with love, laughter, and a sense of unity, a true reflection of Nick and Kristen’s fun-loving spirit and supportive family and friends.
As the night went on, the festivities became even more playful. Kristen’s nephews brought out a Chewbacca mask and playfully chased family members around, adding a whimsical touch to the evening. The laughter was contagious, and the sight of children and adults alike running around with a Chewbacca mask was a delightful highlight.
Let’s raise a toast to Nick and Kristen. Their wedding was not just a celebration of their love, but a joyful gathering of those closest to them, a day filled with personal touches and heartfelt moments. Here’s to their incredible journey together—a love story that is as unique and unforgettable as the moment they said “I do.”
“Some may have their riches, Some may have their worldly things, As long as I have you, I’ll treasure each and every day” — Chris Stapleton, “Joy of My Life”
