On July 14th, we headed over to the Evanston, Illinois area (a suburb approximately 14 miles north of Chicago) to capture Ariel and Miracle’s wedding.
The day started with the potential of having to re-locate the ceremony as the 1:00 start time on Clark Street Beach called for rain. Fortunately, with about 10 minutes to spare, the rain ceased, and even with overcast skies looming over us, the ceremony was a bright, festive, emotion-filled moment, with an obviously-excited (and happy) bride and groom pledging eternal love among family and friend with Lake Michigan in the background.
Though the rain had stopped, the ground was still wet. We needed to adjust our bridal party/family pictures to ensure Ariel’s dress would not get damaged by the damp ground. The Hilton Orrington—just three to four blocks West of the Lake—had a gorgeous, and huge, ballroom that was being used for their (Miracle and Ariel’s) reception, so we doubled up and used a portion of that for the pictures. Two chances for potential “less than ideal” situations for the wedding; two instances of things coming together and working out to make for a most magical day and evening.
Oh, and let’s not forget the phenomenal job Ariel and Miracle did during their first dance as husband and wife, as they did a Viennese Waltz to Ed Sheeran’s “Perfect”—an appropriate dance as both are talented ballroom dancers.
This day turned out to be almost…wait for it…perfect.
