What was once a farm called Burnhams Lot before being bought by the Elmhurst Park District in 1921, Wilder Mansion is now a beautifully-preserved, idyllic location for those seeking a scenic, estate-like wedding in the suburbs of Chicago. It is also one of the few remaining building from the early days of Elmhurst, adding an immense historical vibe to the grounds.
The Mansion
With over 9,000 square feet of space, Wilder Mansion offers opportunities to utilize either the entire mansion, or specific rooms, to entertain wedding parties all the way up to 250 people. An abundance of charm permeates the Mansion, as it transports you to a world of splendor and elegance. There’s also a spacious and personal bridal room on the third floor, for brides-to-be and their wedding parties to get ready ahead of their special day.
The Diana Nicholas Garden
Located in front of the Mansion, the Diana Nicholas Garden is a popular spot for wedding ceremonies and/or cocktail hours. Framed by the Mansion, and surrounded by your VIPs, a stellar fountain, and exquisitely-kept gardens, calling this area picturesque isn’t doing it justice. It’s also an elegant location if you plan to do an early-evening shot with bride/groom.
The Formal Garden
If you’d like to add a few more options to your day, the Formal Garden—located just South of the Mansion and accessed by a stone pathway—is a gorgeous option. It offers a bit more intimacy from the main grounds, as well as providing resplendent scenery that makes for great First Look shots, and Bridal Party and Family Portraits.
